Where Can I Get a Blowout in Fort Myers?

· The Journal

A Canterbury & Co. stylist giving a client a round-brush blowout in the salon at Gulf Coast Town Center, Fort Myers.

You can get a professional blowout at Canterbury & Co. Salon, inside Gulf Coast Town Center in Fort Myers, where Blow Out is a service of its own on our Cut & Styling menu: for an event, a photograph or simply a morning off from the hairdryer. If your hair is curly, ask for Nicole Spaude, our Director Stylist, whose specialties include curly hair. If what you really want is frizz control that lasts past the next wash, that is a smoothing treatment rather than a blowout: we offer Wella Pro+ SmoothFiller, Keratin Complex and Brazilian Blowout, each with its own certified stylists, and the consultation decides which one suits your hair.

The current price range for a blowout is on our services page. The rest of this post is the straight version of what a professional blowout is, how long one lasts in Southwest Florida, and how to make it last longer.

What a professional blowout is

A blowout is a style, not a treatment. Your stylist preps clean hair with a styling product, then dries it section by section with a round brush and a dryer, setting the shape as each section dries: smooth or full, sleek or with a bend at the ends. Done well, it looks like your own hair on its best day, and it moves.

Ours leave hair smooth, full and photograph-ready, and your stylist will show you what they did, so a version of it is repeatable at home. Pair a blowout with a gloss and the shine lasts well past the occasion it was for. The Canterbury Color Team specializes in Wella Professionals color, Shinefinity glosses included, and a gloss is a short appointment that sits naturally alongside a blowout. Here is what a gloss actually does.

A blowout is not a Brazilian Blowout

The names cause real confusion, so plainly: a blowout washes out. A Brazilian Blowout is a smoothing treatment, and it is one of three smoothing systems we offer, each with its own certified stylists: Brazilian Blowout (Ashleigh Maki), Wella Pro+ SmoothFiller (Tori Knox and Julie Bockhorst) and Keratin Complex (Kristen Grzegorczyk).

If your blowouts never survive the parking lot, that is the point where a smoothing treatment is worth a conversation. Which one suits your hair is decided at the consultation, not from the menu, and our page on smoothing treatments in Fort Myers covers all three.

How long a blowout lasts in Florida humidity

Until your next wash at most, and in Fort Myers often less. Hair takes moisture from the air, and when the air is heavy with water the hair swells, the cuticle lifts, and a smooth finish starts to frizz or drop. That is why a blowout has a shorter life here than it does up north, and why we would rather tell you what shortens it than promise a number of days the weather has not agreed to.

Three things decide it:

  • Your texture. Fine hair tends to go flat first: heat and humidity push the scalp’s oil production up, and oil weighs fine hair down by the afternoon. Thick, coarse and curly hair is more inclined to return to its natural texture once moisture gets in.
  • Water. Rain, sweat, the pool and the Gulf undo a blowout the same way a shower does.
  • Your day. An evening in air conditioning asks far less of a style than an afternoon outdoors in August.

How to make it last longer

Start with the right primer. The step between towel and styling matters most. Bumble and bumble builds its primers for specific jobs: the brand’s own figures for Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Primer include frizz cut by half, heat protection to 450°F and UV filters, and its clinical testing puts the Seaweed Oil Control Styling Primer at 48 hours of oil control, which is the one to ask about if fine hair flattens by lunchtime. Bumble and bumble lists us as a Bb.Exclusive Salon, our stylists train on the range, and they will match the primer to your hair rather than hand everyone the same bottle.

Keep water off it. A shower cap, a dry walk from the car and a day away from the pool buy a blowout more time than any product.

Refresh the roots, not the lengths. On day two, a little dry shampoo at the roots and a few minutes with a round brush at the front will usually bring it back.

Curly or textured hair? A smooth blowout on curls is very achievable, and it is also the style most at the mercy of humidity. Nicole can tell you honestly how long a smooth finish will hold on your texture, or style your curls to work with the weather instead.

Booking one

Blowouts are done by our own stylists at the chair every week, and the range on our services page reflects the experience level of the stylist you book. Book one on its own or pair it with a gloss, and there is more on blow-outs and finishing on our haircuts page. Walk-ins are welcome, subject to availability, and booking guarantees your time and your stylist. We are inside Gulf Coast Town Center, at the I-75 Alico Road exit on the Fort Myers–Estero line, with free parking at the door.

Weddings and events

For a wedding, the styling on the morning is the last step of a longer plan: color, cut and any extensions mapped around your date, with a hair trial two to three months out. Our wedding hair page sets out the whole timeline. We are also planning a BOTOX® and Blowout event: the blowouts are done by our own stylists, the injectables by a licensed medical provider rather than the salon, with full details to follow.

Book online, or call the salon at (239) 266-0403, and tell us what the blowout is for. We will plan the finish around the day.
