Wella Pro+ SmoothFiller

SmoothFiller works by filling and fortifying the hair fiber itself — smoothing from within rather than coating or flattening — for lasting, glassy smoothness that keeps your hair’s movement. It comes from the same Wella Professionals system as our color work, so the two are designed to live together.

Keratin Complex

Keratin Complex is the pedigree pick: the brand created the Natural Keratin Smoothing Treatment in 2007 — a first-of-its-kind treatment that, in its own telling, won Behind the Chair’s Favorite Smoothing Treatment Stylist Choice Award eight years running. Today the brand describes a full collection of customizable keratin treatments for every hair type, positioned to eliminate frizz and increase manageability.

Brazilian Blowout

Brazilian Blowout is the name people arrive already knowing — the brand calls it the most popular smoothing treatment in the world. In the brand’s own description, it fortifies each strand with essential amino acids and leaves hair frizz-free, shiny, and effortlessly manageable, with a formal certification program behind every stylist allowed to perform it.

How we actually decide

Four things, weighed in an unhurried consultation:

• Hair history. Color, lightener, previous smoothing services, box-dye confessions — all of it changes what your hair can take and what it needs.
• Texture and goal. “Calmer” and “straighter” are different destinations; fine wavy hair and coarse curly hair rarely want the same system.
• Maintenance appetite. Your honest routine — how often you wash, whether you’ll style at home — matters more than the salon-mirror version.
• The Florida reality. Every recommendation here is stress-tested against Gulf Coast humidity, because that’s the weather your hair actually lives in.
